Musings on Uniqueness vs. Similarity

When looking at our art we may expect, or anticipate seeing something unique or different about it from the artwork of others. This individuality may even be a prime motivation for some. Self-discovery is at times a priority. When looking at others work and similarity there is the realization that we all are human beings. We probably have two eyes. We pursue similar hobbies and seek after things that commonly fulfill the needs and longings of the human soul.

Why would we judge our art for being similar to a large part of the art created out there? We are not offended by the fact that one person hand is designed very much the same as another.
